Roesy at the Sugar Club

On Monday night, I saw Roesy play in the Sugar Club in Dublin in aid of the Bike2Africa charity. This was my first time in the Sugar Club and I must say I was well impressed with it. Nice couches, candle-light, mirror-ball overhead all lent to a cosy atmosphere. But, and this is a big no-no, the bar at the back of the venue is very noisy with not that many people there. Roesy “kindly” asked them to refrain from their pompous chatter (how could so few people make so much noise!?) which worked for at most 2 songs. Apart from this though, the gig was great. Roesy played some songs from his forthcoming album which is to be released in March 2006 I believe and finished off with one of my favourites “Only love is real”.

A small mention about the support. We only caught the last song of Anto’ unfortunately but he sounded good. The Simpleton played next. Sounds good, worth checking out. Apparently he’s a geography teacher in real life.

Getting back to the charity though, there are 3 crazy Irish people cyclying from Dublin to South Africa, as you do. They are helping to raise funds and awareness of the plight of the millions of people suffering from HIV/AIDS, particularly in Africa. Good luck to them!  By the way, today is World Aids Day as pointed out by Dimitri Perrin.

For more pictures of the gig, just click the picture and there are more to be found on my Flickr account.

PS Hi to big Roesy fans Niall and Jill (think I have the correct names) who were at the gig.
