The Roaring Forties at The Mardyke
March 21st, 2006 Posted in Ireland, Live Music, Music, PhotographyAs I mentioned earlier, The Roaring Forties played in the Mardyke complex as part of a multi-band/dj affair. Gary Baus got the night off to a great start, with the Tassel Club dancers providing early entertainment.
As always The Roaring Forties music was fantastic, some of the usual faces were in the crowd from previous gigs. A few drinks were had and all round a great night. You just can't beat this kinda music and The Roaring Forties are great exponents of swing, or "progressive swing" as they call it themselves.
The lads had a special guest at the gig, Roibaird who took part in the Special Olympics. I'm sorry Roibaird but I don't know your surname so if you're reading this feel free to comment!
I went wandering at one stage to check out the other rooms as I knew Fred were playing somewhere. I stayed for a few songs as they are one of my favourite Cork bands and always have high-spirited shows. Check out their site, it's been around a while but there's always good stuff there.
There were some MCs upstairs, not sure who they were but when I got there they were taking a break and some random chick jumped up on stage to show off her dancing.
Back to the Roaring Forties room for some more music. Check out their set-list (thanks to Cel for getting that one and the first pic).
The Tassel Dancers were in full flow at this stage.
