Betamax Format

Betamax Format were playing in the Half Moon Friday week ago with Cork band Stanley Super 800 and Dae Kim as part of a country-wide Sofa Records roadshow. I've seen Stanley Super 800 quite a few times but not for a while now, good to see them again. It prompted me to get out their album and e.p. again and take a listen. Great stuff.
Dae Kim started off the night, not a bad band, nice mixture of instruments onstage and pretty decent repertoire. I'd go see them again if they were around. But Betamax Format were the band of the night for me. I hadn't heard of them before so didn't know what to expect but they do a great live show, the music is excellent with a whole load of gadgets onstage to create really cool effects. Go see them if they're playing near you.
