London Eye by Night
April 1st, 2007 Posted in London, Night Photography, Photography, UKAfter approaching the London Eye I took a few close up shots. We didn’t stay too long because it was freezing cold and it was eerily quiet there at about 2am. I’m not sure how safe it is do be around this area at this time of night, especially with a full-size tripod and taking thirty second exposure shots!

And you know you’re not allowed use a tripod in the vacinity of the London Eye? If a security guard or police officer had seen you you’d have got a warning!
Yes, silly, I think they use the pretext of public safety or something.

Tripod, what tripod? I meant to say that I hand-held the camera for 30 second shots. I have quite a steady hand…
Thanks for the comments Matt and PCB.

Ran across your blog on the photog tag. I visited London for the first time earlier in March but missed out on seeing the night lights. These pictures make it obvious that I need to budget another London night before I fly back out.
We have some interestingly similar shots (ones that make the Eye look like a big bicicle wheel).
Mine are in this blog (toward the end of the pictures):
