Tom Baxter at the Crane Lane Theatre
July 20th, 2007 Posted in Ireland, Live Music, Music, Photography, corkgigsTom Baxter played in the Crane Lane Theatre during the week and I’m glad I got my tickets at the last minute in Plug’d Records. What a show! The man has such a distinct voice that he kept the pretty-much capacity crowd enthralled for the night. And if anybody dared to speak, they were rightly shushed quickly enough.
Tom’s brother Charlie Winston (above) played support as well as playing with the band and I’ll put up a post about that tomorrow. Tom got a marriage proposal from a girl at the front of the crowd but took it well in his stride. A gig is made all the better when there’s good banter and interaction between the singer and the crowd.
Tom has a new album out which you can buy from his site. Unfortunately he didn’t have any with him on the night as he had sold out of them in Dublin. That didn’t endear him to the Cork crowd! At least he drinks Murphy’s!
The pictures are all taken from the same spot because I didn’t want to see the reaction of the mostly female front row if I put my clunky camera in their way! More pictures can be seen in the full set.
I’m heading into Liquid Lounge tonight where Super Bonus Extra Party, Cable Face and DJ Hans are doing their thing as part of the Electric Underground weekly slot. Nialler9 does the visuals for Super Bonus Extra Party who were supposed to be excellent at the recent Mantua Festival.
