Mick Flannery played his annual Christmas gig in the Opera House to a packed house back in Decemeber. Mick has come on in leaps and bounds this year with the release of White Lies and regular airplay on the national airwaves. Good to see he still has the same old self-effacing stage presence where he now just happily plays his magnificent music; the only time he breaks from this is to take the mickey out of the occasional heckler or re-inforce his understated interaction with the crowd with a few words every now and again, the eager crowd hanging on his every word.

Check out all the photos in the 2009 calendar. I must say the printed versions of some of them didn’t do them justice. I recently printed quite a few photos and thought they came out a lot darker than expected. It looks like the same thing happened for these calendars. Printing digital photos seems to be a bit hit and miss when it comes to the brightness and colours or is it just me?

Cork band Snowman played at Cyprus Avenue back on 9th October as part of the Melting Pot series of gigs. This is a band I had wanted to see for quite a while after seeing one of their songs on YouTube ages ago where they go kinda mental. They have quite a heavy sound which is not usually my thing but they put on a great live show, not your usual run of the mill rock act.

Last year I got two photos of mine printed on canvas by Keith at Funk’d Online. I was very happy with the end product of both canvases and after moving house during the summer one of the canvases finally has a new home on the wall of the dining room. I’m not sure if there is still time to get an order in for Christmas but I have no problem recommending Funk’d Online.

The original photo is below, I had to add some extra space on top to cater for the size although I prefer how it came out on the canvas.
