Last year I got two photos of mine printed on canvas by Keith at Funk’d Online. I was very happy with the end product of both canvases and after moving house during the summer one of the canvases finally has a new home on the wall of the dining room. I’m not sure if there is still time to get an order in for Christmas but I have no problem recommending Funk’d Online.
The original photo is below, I had to add some extra space on top to cater for the size although I prefer how it came out on the canvas.
Ian Whitty, one of my favourite singers, played in Cyprus Avenue on October 21st last. It had been a long time since we saw him so we jumped at the opportunity to catch him live. His debut album Will o’ the Wisp is a highly recommended addition to any CD collection and I’m looking forward to the release of a new album in early 2008. This promises to be a rockier collection of music than Will o’ the Wisp although Ian does the introspective reflective ballads equally well as the high tempo catchy tunes.
Ian plays tonight (Nov 22) in Galway in The Crane at 9pm and tomorrow in Clifden in The FUnction Room. Just looking at it now, the gig in Clifden also features another great performer in Ger Wolfe so that should be a decent gig. Ian also plays Dublin opening up for super Cork band Fred in Crawdaddy on December 16th. Enough superlatives? I like my music :).
Listen to some tracks on his MySpace.
See some more pictures on Flickr in the full set.
Sean Kelleher played support to Aaron Dillon in The Roundy recently. I don’t know much about him and I can’t find a website for him but he’s another one to keep an eye out for. Sometimes a support act isn’t up to much but he kept the crowd interested with his well-crafted songs.
I’m off to see David Kitt in the Savoy now.
